What does a herd of 160 bucking bulls sounds like? Well, it depends where you live. In locations where cowboy boots are an oddity and the word chaps makes people think of “stick,” it may not be a pleasant or even welcome sound. In Duncan, it’s sweet music to the ears of many.
The Stephens County Fair and Expo Center will house those 160 bucking bulls March 19 and 20.
Mike Sellers, event organizer, said, “We are going to bring in the top bucking bull breeders, they are going to be 160 of the best bucking bulls in the country.”
Sellers said 25 states and Canada will be represented by the bulls.
The bulls will be split into two categories by age. The two-year-old bulls will compete against other two-year- olds. They will perform with a bucking dummy.
The second category will be three-year-old bulls. The three-year-olds will be judged with a rider.
Bulls will not be the only attractions at the Two Bulls Challenge, Sellers said, “We are going to have professional bull fighters here, they are from the Daisy Protections Bullfighting Tour.”
Participants will arrive March 19, but the event will kick off at 9 a.m. March 20 with the two year old bulls. The three year old and protections portion of the competition will be at 7:30 p.m. March 20.
Sellers said ticket prices will be down this year. Sellers said, “We are offering our own stimulus package for the fans this year, we dropped the price to try to help people out.”
Sellers said Two Bulls Production was forced to cancel an event in January because of the weather. Sellers said, “The roof caved in on part of the fairgrounds, we will have 40 Head Bull Riding again next year though.”
