DUNCAN —
Duncan High School Principal Gary Reed said Monday that there have been rumors of a gun threat at the school, but it was only a rumor and there is nothing for anyone to be concerned about. The rumor began circulating late Friday after two boys were involved in a fight. Both boys have been given punishment and are not in school, Reed said. The principal also said several phone calls were received by concerned parents Monday.
Duncan Public School Superintendent Sherry Labyer said all she had no confirmed reports of a threat on the school as well Monday afternoon.
Duncan Police Chief Danny Ford said the department had heard rumors of these threats come through text messages and facebook notices, but nothing has physically turned up to confirm the threats.
“We had extra officers at the school today just to make sure, but there was nothing there,” Ford said.
Officers have been attempting to track down anyone with one of these text messages or facebook notifications.
Ford said if anyone does have information or one of these messages to contact the Duncan Police Department.
