DUNCAN —
Not wanting to impede on the holiday weekend, the Stephens County Commissioners met Tuesday for its weekly meeting. The meeting is usually Monday, but to cater to the Labor Day holiday, the meeting was pushed to Tuesday.
Between the two gavel strikes to the sounding block, the board knocked out the typical beginning of the month agenda items. From approving the minutes of the previous meeting to approving the payment of any purchase orders and the issuance of any blanket purchase orders, the board moved swiftly through its weekly meeting.
The commissioners approved the capital outlay purchases for August and any notice of employment appointments and terminations. After the normal weekly and monthly items, they dealt with the timely items.
A transfer of appropriations was approved, for within the Sheriff Grant Fund to the tune of $15,000. After approving the transfer, the three commissioners, Dee Bowen, Darrell Sparks and Todd Churchman, moved on to other non-weekly items.
They agreed to accept a Cooperative Extension Services Agreement between the Oklahoma State University acting for and on behalf of its cooperative Extension Service and the United States Department of Agriculture to provide financial support to the OSU Cooperative Extension Program.
“It’s a really good deal for Stephens County,” chairman Bowen said.
After all the items on the agenda were complete, only 15 minutes had passed. The meeting concluded at 9:45 a.m.
