Storage structure catches fire ... twice

DUNCAN —  

A storage structure at 1101 W. Ash saw flames twice within 24 hours Wednesday and Thursday.
Emergency personnel responded to a call shortly after 4 p.m. Wednesday. The small fire did minimal damage to the structure and the contents of the structure.
However, emergency personnel were called out again just before 3 a.m. Thursday morning as the structure was on fire again.
“That could have been a rekindling,” Duncan Police Department’s Fire Investigator Bill Fitzhugh said. “We do not know.”
The original fire is being investigated as possible arson.
“There was no power to that structure, no gas to that structure,” he said. “It is being investigated as a suspicious fire.”
Fitzhugh said no monetary estimate of the damage could be given at this time as the contents of the structure have not yet been assessed.
“It was a dilapidated storage building detached from the house,” he said. “It was completely destroyed.” 
Detectives from DPD are still investigating other recent structure fires. Fitzhugh said they do have a lead on one that burned the structure on Willow Avenue Feb. 25. He said Detective John Byers will be investigating the suspect for this fire and other fires on Maple Avenue and Willow Avenue.
