Public works project terminated
DUNCAN — The Board of Stephens County Commissioners terminated a public works contract between the Oklahoma Department of Corrections and Stephens County that was approved May 26. Last weeks decision to hire Kaleb Willeford as a full-time employee for the fairgrounds made the public works contract unnecessary. The contract entailed transporting Waurika inmates to the Stephens County fairgrounds to do regular maintenance.
The addition of Willeford, and the termination of the public works project, will cut costs to the county by not having to transport the inmates from Waurika.
The board considered an approval of a Conditions for Donation of Service and Space Agreement between the county, and the U.S. Census Bureau. The board decided to delay the decision for one week.
Additionally, the board opened bids to accept the lowest and best bid for one 2006, or newer, used high reach rough terrain telehandler with less than 1300 hours for the fairgrounds. The board delayed the decision for one week to examine all the bids.
In other action:
n The board accepted all bids for bridge material to be used in Stephens county at various locations and project sites within the county.
n The board accepted all bids for oil and emulsion to be used by Stephens county at various locations and project sites within the county. This big will only be good for six months.
n The board delayed the approval of a Transfer of appropriations within the governmental building authority fund, pending the approval of the bid regarding the purchase of a telehandler.
