Livingston named Realtor of the Year

Matt Tillson

DUNCAN — The Duncan Association of Realtors held its annual awards ceremony and dinner Dec. 4. Receiving Realtor of the Year award and the Presidential Award was outgoing president James Livingston.

Livingston was nominated for the Realtor of the Year award with Teresa Young and Jesse, and Livingston said both were great company to be nominated with.

“Just being nominated with not only such great realtors, but such great people of the Duncan community was truly an honor,” Livingston said.

Association President Veronica Gutierrez-Ibarra said Livingston has been a very effective salesman and exhibits great leadership skills throughout the year.

“James has been very consistent with his sales and has a great work ethic,” Gutierrez-Ibarra said. “He is a great leader and is one of the go-to realtors in Duncan.”

Livingston said that even though he knew that he would be receiving the Presidential award, because of being the Association President the past year, he said that his tenure could not have gone better. Livingston credits Gutierrez-Ibarra for the association running so smoothly.

“Veronica is one of the newest executives but the work that she has done is such a blessing,” Livingston said. “She makes everything go so smoothly and efficiently.”

Young walked away with the Be Good Joe Wood Memorial award.

Joe Wood was a former Realtor who possessed a positive attitude, showed good character and extremely good work ethic.

As a former co-worker and personal friend of Joe Wood, Young said that it was a great honor to win the award professionally and personally. Nominations for the Joe Wood Award and the other awards were made by the other realtors themselves.

“To be nominated by my peers for the Joe Wood award is such a humbling experience,” Young said. “The nominees for this award are totally based on the certain characteristics and qualities that a person should hold so that means a lot to me.”

“Teresa shows all of the quality skills that made her such a worthy candidate for the Joe Wood Award,” Gutierrez-Ibarra said. “She is such a hard worker and never gives up on anything.”

Receiving this year’s Lifetime Membership Award was Diana Headrick, for dedicating 30 years of service to the relating industry.

“Diana has been involved with the association for such a long time,” Gutierrez-Ibarra said. “She got into the realtors business by following in her father’s footsteps.”

Gutierrez-Ibarra said that this year has been a very productive and great year for the realtors in Duncan. Gutierrez-Ibarra said that she is looking forward to next year as well.

“We are looking forward to 2010 and for helping out our clients and the Duncan community,” Gutierrez-Ibarra said.
