DUNCAN — Jerry Lynn Rogers, 48, of Duncan, was arrested Wednesday in Marlow by Stephens County Sheriff’s deputies, on two bench warrants, totaling about $9,000.

Those were a failure to pay warrant and a failure to appear, but Sheriff Wayne McKinney said Wednesday that charges are also being prepared to be filed against Rogers for three counts of embezzlement.

Rogers owns JT Car Cares, 1208 N. Broadway in Marlow. About four or five weeks ago the sheriff’s department received information regarding some alleged activities being conducted by Rogers.

“We had gotten calls from Marlow residents that Mr. Rogers was selling warranties for used cars. It appeared legal and was legal, but he was pocketing the money and not sending it in to the insurance companies,” McKinney said.

Further investigation by the sheriff’s department revealed that the alleged victims would discover there were no records of the warranties.

“We were preparing these affidavits against Mr. Rogers (Wednesday) and we uncovered two more (Wednesday),” McKinney said. “He will be arraigned (today).”

An exact amount of how much Rogers allegedly collected is not yet known, but McKinney said it could be around $5,000.
