Sales tax distribution numbers still down

Some area towns show gains

Oklahoma City — The October distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission were down again across the area.

The distribution of collections primarily represents local tax receipts from August business.

The revenue they reported this period represent sales from Aug. 16 to Aug. 31 and estimated sales from Sept. 1 to Sept. 15.

The disbursement of $107,961,115 in sales tax collections was returned to 505 cities and towns reflecting a decrease of $9,759,803 from the $117,720,918 distributed to 505 cities and towns in October last year. The use tax disbursement of $6,894,539 was distributed between 351 cities and towns.

In county returns, 74 counties shared in a $21,968,180 sales tax disbursement. The use tax disbursement of $1,205,235 was distributed between 62 counties.

Duncan showed a decrease of $90,481.57, going from $1,015,461.94 in 2008 to 924,980.37 this year.

Marlow took a smaller hit, collecting $114,441.79 this year to $116,011.67 in ’08.

Comanche was up from $35,705.33 in 2008 to $42,643.83 this year. Waurika was also up from $33,129.53 to $35,639.26.

Bray was down from $1,480.95 in 2008 to $1,212.42 this year. Addington also showed an increase, going from $126.84 in 2008 to $338.75 this year.

Loco’s share was down from $718.07 to $396.49. Velma was also down, going from $37,539.71 to $24,134.82.

The Stephens County numbers were down from $239,002.36 to $215,674.16. Jefferson County was also down, taking in $47,100.57 this year compared to $53,627.60 in 2008.
