DUNCAN — Wine can be complementary to many things, whether fine art or an Italian dinner or, perhaps, a charitable event.
The Duncan AMBUCS will host its second annual Wine’n on the Chisholm Trail wine festival from noon to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Chisholm Trail Heritage Center.
Tammy Johnson and Gayle Kammerer, AMBUCS members, said the aim of the AMBUCS is to make the event successful so the organization will be able to buy enough AmTrykes of various sizes to set up a demonstration site at Duncan Regional Hospital.
“We hope the community will support the event because you’re supporting a cause,” Johnson said.
Johnson said about $3,000 is needed to make a demo site at the hospital. If more money is raised from the event, the organization will be able to purchase more AmTrykes to give to people, both children and adults, who are physically disabled.
So far this year, Duncan AMBUCS has given six AmTrykes to area children who were referred to the organization by a physician.
Kammerer said there will be more wine vendors this year. The event will have representatives of six Oklahoma wineries set up to serve a variety of wines.
To sample the wines, people can buy their wine glasses the day of the event and use the same glass for each of the wine companies.
In an attempt to raise more money specifically for the cause, the AMBUCS will be the only food vendor during the day. The organization will also be serving an up-scale Italian dinner.
“We still have dinner tickets available,” Johnson said.
Anyone wanting a dinner ticket should get one prior to Saturday to give an accurate head count, so food can be ordered accordingly.
Aside from wineries, all other vendors are local businesses, Johnson said. The Duncan Art Guild will have art on display during the event.
“For some reason, wine, cheese and art just go together,” Johnson said.
In addition to wine, food and various other vendors, the AMBUCS will also have a scavenger hunt. People can get clues from the vendors.
The event will also have live entertainment. The featured performer is Chance Anderson, but the event will also have performances from Country Line Dancers and Jarod Grice.
“I think it will be pretty neat,” Johnson said.
