Duncan taxes take a tumble

Marlow shows increase

OKLAHOMA CITY — According to the Oklahoma Tax Commission, the sales tax distribution numbers for Duncan took a tumble in a year-to-year comparison.

In 2009, Duncan took in $1,085,802.81, while in 2010 that number was down to $951,273.

Marlow showed an increase, going from $108,326.56 in ’09 to $118,597.40 this year.

Comanche also showed improvement in a year-to-year comparison, going from $35,187.21 to $41,089.80.

The community of Bray shared in $2,011.50, which was up from last year’s $1,580.49.

Addington shared in $234.77 compared to $143.55 in 2009.

Velma’s decline continued, as that town received $28,296.67 compared to $37,159.71 in ’09.

Waurika was also down to $30,098.81 from $39,530.52.

In county returns, Stephens County took in $203,703.69, which was down from the previous year’s $229,938.84.

Jefferson County was up from $41,537.74 to $46,496.31.

The June distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission primarily represents local tax receipts from April business. Companies that remit more than $2,500 monthly in sales tax receipts are required to file and pay electronically. The monies they reported this period represent sales from April 16 to April 30 and estimated sales from May 1 to May 15.

The disbursement of $109,840,041 in sales tax collections was returned to 505 cities and towns reflecting a increase of $3,423,423 from the $106,416,618 distributed to 505 cities and towns in June last year. The use tax disbursement of $8,105,872 was distributed between 369 cities and towns.

In county returns, 74 counties shared in a $23,536,866 sales tax disbursement. The use tax disbursement of $1,523,114 was distributed between 71 counties.
