Eight injured in accident

ARDMORE — Eight people, from ages 9 to 20, were injured and one remained hospitalized in Oklahoma City Wednesday, following a single-car accident on a rural Jefferson County road.

According to the accident report filed by Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Chance Lipe, Dillon S. Taylor, 17, was northbound on Rapier Road, when she apparently lost control of a 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan.

The vehicle left the gravel road to the right, striking an embankment and rolling one time. Three passengers were ejected from the vehicle and a fourth passenger was partially ejected. Lipe’s report said none of the seven passengers were using seatbelts and that air bags did not deploy during the accident.

Sarah S. Taylor, 18, a Ringing resident, was the most seriously injured of the vehicle’s occupants. Ejected from the vehicle during the accident, she was taken by mediflight to OU Medical in Oklahoma City, where she was reported in good condition Wednesday, suffering from internal injuries of the trunk.

Dillon Taylor of Ringling was taken to Jefferson County Hospital by Waurika EMS, where he was treated and released.

Also transported to Jefferson County Hospital by Waurika EMS was Casey A. Loughridge, 17, Ardmore, who was treated and released.

Jennifer R. Eking, 20, of Ringling, was one of the passengers ejected. She was taken by Ardmore EMS to Duncan Regional Hospital, where she was treated and released. Also taken to Duncan Regional Hospital by Ardmore EMS was Brandi N. Murphy, 16, of Marietta, who was treated and released.

A third passenger ejected during the accident was Lane A. Stitcer, 9, Marietta, who was taken to Healdton Hospital by Ardmore EMS, where he was treated and released.

John K. Murphy was partially ejected from the vehicle. The 10-year-old Marietta resident was transported to Healdton Hospital by Ardmore EMS, where he was treated and released. Also taken to Healdton Hospital by Ardmore EMS, was 10-year-old Hanna L. Stitcer of Marietta. She was treated and released.

Dillon Taylor was ticketed for traveling at an unsafe speed on the gravel road.

In addition to Trooper Lipe from the Stephens County OHP detachment, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department and Ringling first responders assisted in the investigation.
