DUNCAN —
If two agenda items are approved by the Board of Stephens County Commissioners, waterlines could be replaced and wells could be cleaned for Stephens County Rural Water District 4.
The board is slated to open bids for two items, during Tuesday’s regular meeting. The first item correlates to a proposal to replace existing waterlines at five creek crossing for the county’s Rural Water District 4. The other item relates to a proposal for well inspection, cleaning and repair for the water district.
Both Rural Water District 4 projects would be paid with grant funds.
Because the board has to open bids for the projects, they will have to wait until 10 a.m. to review the bids and to take action. They will be looking for the lowest and best bids for each project. To be considered, the bids will have to meet the specifications set by the commissioners.
Other items:
• The commissioners may approve a permit to allow Dawson Geophysical Co. to conduct a 3-D geophysical survey on county roads and easements.
The company uses the survey for seismic data for clients, ranging from large to independent oil and gas companies and operators. This allows for the company to determine solutions for seismic challenges.
• The board will consider a contract between county, on behalf of the Stephens County Health Department, and Lawn-Pro Landscaping, Mowing and Lawn Care.
The service contract will allow for the landscaping business to maintain the lawn for the Health Department.
• Land acquired at resale by County Treasurer Janice Graham will be another focus for the commissioners. The board will determine if it wants to execute a county deed for the property at Block 1, Lot 10, Linwood Addition in Duncan.
The treasurer purchases properties at resales at various times during the year. Most of the properties are portions of lots.
• Two items will relate to items being declared as surplus. First, the board will discuss the Circuit Engineering District Auction Policies for disposing of surplus equipment. The second item will lead the commissioners to consider declaring certain equipment items as surplus to be auctioned in the ACCO CED Equipment Auction.
The auction will be March 9 and 10 in Elk City.
• The board will follow up with an item tabled during the Jan. 9 regular meeting. The items is a resolution to underwrite the selection of a bridge design consulting firm, who would be hired for a county road project.
The project for a road in the county’s District 3, will be paid with federal funds and will be underway by 2015. Darrell Sparks, District 1 commissioner, was unable to attend the Jan. 9 meeting. All commissioners have to approve which consulting firm to go with.
Because Sparks was able to attend the meeting, the item had to be tabled.
• The board may approve the minutes from the previous meeting. The meeting was Jan. 9.
• The commissioners will consider approving the payment of any purchase orders and the issuance of any blanket purchase orders.
• If the commissioners receive any county utility permits, those permits could be approved. The board hasn’t received any utility permits since the Dec. 12 regular meeting.
