DUNCAN — A jury found Lloyd Lorne guilty Tuesday of distribution of a controlled dangerous substance and recommended a 30 year sentence, said Assistant District Attorney Ryan Howard. The controlled dangerous substance was entered into evidence Monday in Stephens County District Court, as crack cocaine.
Assistant District Attorney Josh Creekmore prosecuted the case but was not available Wednesday for comment. Howard said that Lorne will have to serve a 50 percent minimum on the guilty conviction. Lorne also was scheduled to appear in Stephens County District Court again today on charges of a felon in possession of a firearm. Howard said that has been continued to the April docket.
Lorne, a two-time state wrestling champion in Lawton in 1993-94, was arrested on the CDS charge after an investigation by the District Attorney’s Task Force. Lorne has an extensive record, dating back to 1994, on an obstruction of official duty charge. Other convictions include possession of cocaine,
Also, Thomas Nunley of Marlow, was scheduled to appear in court, on an assault and battery on a police officer, but the District Attorney’s office sent a motion for dismissal to District Judge Joseph Enos. Nunley was charged with assault on Marlow Police Officer Randy Johnson, who is on administrative leave pending investigations into alleged misconduct in a separate case.
Johnson has been on that leave, along with fellow Marlow officer Rodney Richards and chief Bob Hill, since October 2009.
