P.M. Update Bomb threat evacuates Comanche High School

COMANCHE — Just after 2 p.m. today, Comanche High School was evacuated based on orders from the Comanche Police Department, that a bomb threat had been phoned in, said Comanche Public Schools Superintendent Terry Davidson.

“The threat is specific to the high school,” he said. Davidson said that the local police department notified them that a call was received that bombs would be set off at the end of the school day.

An emergency evacuation plan that the school district has was put into place, Davidson said.

“Crews are being brought in to search for any bombs,” he said.

Students had to leave the building, but could not take their bags or backpacks with them. Buses will run as scheduled and parents can pick up their children on Texas Street on the south side of the gymnasium.

Students who drive will have to be picked up by a parent, but their vehicles will have to remain at the campus until the building inspection is complete.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Stephens County Sheriff’s Office and Comanche Police Department are on the school campus, Davidson said.

“It could be nothing but we have to be safe,” he said.
