Elvis Wright pleaded guilty Tuesday to three counts of distribution of methamphetamine in Stephens County District Court, in front of District Judge Joe Enos.
Wright was arrested May 16, 2009, after a month-long investigation conducted by the District Attorney’s Drug Task Force, Duncan Police Department and the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office. A plea agreement was reached and Enos sentenced Wright to 25 years in the state penal facility and a $1,500 fine for each distribution count, to run concurrently.
District Attorney Bret Burns prosecuted the case.
“Elvis Wright made a living by selling drugs in our county. Now he will have 25 years in prison to consider his consequences,” he said.
“The arrest and prosecution of Wright were the result of the Duncan Police Department, the Sheriff’s office and the DA’s Task Force working together. I want to commend these law enforcement agencies for working together for the common good of county. By working together, our law enforcement agencies present a united front against criminals who are intent on breaking the law,” Burns said.
