Two arrested on charges of drug trafficking

DUNCAN — Two individuals from Lawton were arrested Sunday afternoon by Stephens County Sheriff’s Office and charged with trafficking in illegal drugs.

The pair, Dee Dee Colbert, 23, and David Lewis Tucker, 25, were stopped at the U.S. Highway 81 and State Highway 7 intersection for a traffic stop around 4 p.m., said Sheriff Wayne McKinney.

Both have been charged with a felony in Stephens County District Court and remain in the county jail.

Tucker has a hold request on him for charges in Beckham County, McKinney said.

In 2004, he was arrested in that county and prosecuted for the same crime. He was given 10 years and that sentence, according to the Oklahoma Offender Search database, shows that sentence would expire in February 2014.

The sheriff’s office requested trafficking charges and additional charges for Colbert, of false impersonation and for an inmate attempting to smuggle crack cocaine into the jail. Only trafficking charges were filed, said Assistant District Attorney Ryan Howard.

Tucker’s charge carries greater penalty since he is listed as a felon after a former conviction. If convicted, he could serve 12 years to life. Colbert’s punishment ranges from four to life and a fine of $25,000 to $100,000. Their bond was set at $15,000 each.
