DUNCAN —
Stephens County Fire Task Force was deployed to Hastings in Jefferson County, around 7:30 p.m. Thursday, said Duncan Capt. Jeff Bruehl.
Task Force supervisor was Monty Tadlock, who also was serving as Incident Command Officer.
“We’re pretty busy right now. We have multiple departments here,” Tadlock said. Because of the fire, he couldn’t talk, but did say he would provide an update later.
Fire departments from all fire departments in the county went to assist. Also, DPD Officer Patrick Norton went to serve as communications operator.
No other information was available at deadline. It was not known how many firefighters or departments were involved, or the extent of the fire.
Stephens County remains under a strict burn ban and law enforcement will issue citations for those in violation of the ban.
Fifty-five counties in Oklahoma are under county-issued burn bans. There has not been a governor-issued ban put in place yet.
Jefferson County is not on the list of counties under a burn ban. Neighboring counties — Grady, Cotton and Comanche are under bans.
