Man arrested on molestation charges

DUNCAN — A Duncan man is in custody after a felony charge was filed against him for alleged multiple lewd acts with a 12-year-old child across a two week period in September.

Dennis Richard Tomlinson, 40, of Duncan is being held in Stephens County Jail on $100,000 bond for the felony charge of Lewd or Indecent Acts To Child under 16 years, for which carries a possible sentence of no less than three years nor more than 20 years by imprisonment.

According to affidavit filed in Stephens County Court, charges were filed on Oct. 5 along with an arrest warrant issued for Tomlinson.

The affidavit states  during a second interview with Duncan Police Department officials, Tomlinson admitted to touching the child  over her clothing “on three different occasions on the same day.”

Tomlinson was brought to county jail on Oct. 5 by DPD Officers.

Atkinson was contacted by a Child Protective Services worker for the Oklahoma Department of Human Services in reference to a report of possible sexual abuse on Sept. 26.

The worker advised Atkinson the referral stated the child disclosed to a councilor that Tomlinson had been possibly sexually abused on or between Sept. 10 and Sept. 24.

After making contact with the family of the child, an interview took place at the Mary Abbott Children’s House in Norman Oct. 1, where the child provided details of the alleged sexual abuse, stating the alleged interactions took place more than one time.

Tomlinson was interviewed on Oct. 2, where after being read his Miranda Warning and signing a waiver, initially denied touching the child.

His preliminary hearing is set for Dec. 12.
