In one of the first acts during the Red River Technology Center’s March board meeting, Dee Williams was sworn onto the board to replace Jimmy Pryor.
RRTC Superintendent Ken Layn said that after five years of being on the board Pryor decided not to rerun again.
“Jimmy was an exceptional board member for us and we are very appreciative for all that he did for Red River Technology Center,” Layn said. “We wish Jimmy nothing but the best in his future endeavors.”
Williams said that he is excited to be a part of a great board and happy to be more of a part of RRTC.
“I used to teach at Red River Technology Center and I’ve been on the advisory board,” Williams said. “I’m excited to work with the board and to be working with Ken and ready to help Red River Technology Center.”
Williams also replaced Pryor on the Community Foundations of Oklahoma Board during the board meeting.
Along with Pryor becoming the newest member to the board, they also went under some reorganizations. Rodney Love of Duncan was voted to stay on as the president. While Gary Carter of Waurika was named vice president and Mark Ely of Velma was named the deputy clerk.
“We have a great board here at Red River,” Layn said. “These people are really working hard and looking out for helping us here.”
The board also approved the accepting of letters of resignation from Computer Telecommunications Specialist Steve Gray and Teacher’s Aid Sue Clark.
Gray had been a part of RRTC for 25 years, and Layn said that he appreciates all that he has done.
“Steve Gray is exceptional in what he does,” Layn said. “He has been such a great asset to the Red River Technology Center and he will be missed.”
Clark was a teachers aid for 21 years and was known around RRTC for being such a good person.
“Sue is a saint of a lady,” Layn said. “In my seven years here I have not heard one student, staff or faculty member say one bad thing about her and I am going to miss that.”
Lisa Williams who is a current counselor at RRTC was hired during the March meeting as the new Adult and Career Development Director. Anita Hasenmyer the current Adult and Career Development Director will be retiring June 30.
“Anita has worked for us for 17 years and decided that she was ready to retire,” Layn said. “Lisa has been going to school ready to advance to the next level and applied with numerous others and was approved for the job.”
Also discussed during the meeting was the auditors report for the fiscal year of 2009. According to Layn RRTC came out of the auditors report with zero deficiencies and zero comments for concern.
Layn noted that the reason for having such a good report was because of such a great financial team.
“Marsha Morris, Sheila Brock, Linda Henton and Sherri Branch comprise our financial team and do a fantastic job,” Layn said. “I truly believe that our financial team is second to none because they do such a fantastic job each time.”
