DUNCAN — Sales tax collection distribution numbers for the City of Duncan continued to be down in February.
However, the drop off wasn’t as great as it has been in past months.
In 2009 Duncan received $1,166,283.23 and in 2010 that number was $1,118,109.35.
Marlow took a hit, going from $173,804.39 to $108,464.23
Comanche was just off of its 2009 mark of $36,096.83 with a 2010 figure of $36,067.61.
Bray was up from 2009 ($1,213.52) with $1,256.36. Waurika was down from $31,166.94 in 2009 to $27,870.97. Velma was also down from 2009’s $43,355.48 to $29,996.27.
The February distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission primarily represents local tax receipts from December business. Companies that remit more than $2,500 monthly in sales tax receipts are required to file and pay electronically. The money they reported this period represent sales from Dec. 16 to Dec. 31 and estimated sales from Jan. 1 to Jan. 15.
The disbursement of $117,320,637 in sales tax collections was returned to 505 cities and towns reflecting a decrease of $4,355,749 from the $121,676,386 distributed to 505 cities and towns in February last year. The use tax disbursement of $8,665,996 was distributed between 366 cities and towns.
In county returns, 75 counties shared in a $25,021,652 sales tax disbursement. The use tax disbursement of $1,923,447 was distributed between 69 counties.
