DUNCAN —
The Duncan Police Department is searching for a suspect who assaulted a local man who suffered permanent damage to his right eye, rendering him partially blind.
Philip Joseph Llanos, 35, of Duncan is wanted for a felony charge of aggravated assault and battery after attacking Jerry Landon Friend, 41, in the area of Pine between 13th and 15th Streets on Sept. 8, around 10:30 a.m., Captain Jay Evans said.
“A person had driven by and noticed a guy was being assaulted, so we sent officers over to check,” Evans said. “Patrol went to check on the assault and when police showed up, the suspect fled and the victim was injured quite severely.”
Friend was taken to Duncan Regional Hospital for injuries to his face and head then transferred to the University of Oklahoma Medical Center for further treatment for his injuries.
The affidavit filed with Stephens County District Court states Detective John Byers was interviewing Friend before he was transported to OU Medical Center, where hospital staff advised Byers that Friend has suffered a brain hemorrhage and a broken cheek bone on the right side.
Evans had learned later on that Friend had suffered additional injuries from the assault.
“According to the victim, he was permanently blind in his right eye,” Evans said.
Llanos was riding a bike when he came upon Friend and jumped off to start the assault. Friend said in the affidavit he never struck Llanos and the dispute was over a motor vehicle purchase.
“He (Friend) said there had been a dispute over a vehicle that the victim had bought from the suspect and evidently, had paid him for,” Evans said. “The vehicle still shows it’s in the suspect’s name and never signed over to the victim.”

Duncan woman involved in Grady County accident
