Preparing for 2009-10 fiscal year

DUNCAN — Wednesday was the beginning of the new fiscal year for Stephens County, and the Board of Stephens County Commissioners was busy getting ready for the year by approving an array of contracts.

Dee Bowen, District 3 commissioner, said, “We’re renewing contracts from last year because it’s the new year.”

Bowen said the contracts are approved and signed every year. But they’re necessary to make the operations of the county run smoothly. All of the contracts and agreements made were between Stephens County and other entities.

The contracts approved include:

• An agreement with the City of Duncan for the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office to house prisoners for Duncan.

• Adopting a resolution authorizing the Stephens County treasurer to make investments of county funds and to place the interest earned from these investments in the general funds or other funds from where the investment was made.

• Rental agreement and full maintenance agreement with Standley Systems to provide copier machines, maintenance, copies and supplies for the district attorney’s office, sheriff’s office, county treasurer, county assessor and Oklahoma State University Extension Office.

• A couple of agreements were also made on behalf of the fairgrounds. These agreements include one with Key Equipment Finance Inc. to provide a copy machine; and another with Bennett Office Equipment to provide maintenance, copies and supplies.

• Another agreement with Bennett Office Equipment was also approved to provide copier machines, maintenance, copies and supplies for the election board, county clerk and sheriff.

• The last agreement approved was a lease agreement and maintenance agreement with Sooner Copy Machines Inc. to provide the county commissioners with copier machines, maintenance, copies and supplies.
