Conde 50 Years

Mr. and Mrs. Conde

DUNCAN —

Jim and Elva Conde will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a come-and-go reception from 2-4 p.m. today in the Fellowship Room at Eastside Church of Christ in Duncan.

Hosts are their children, daughter Janice Schornick and husband Mickey of Duncan and son Robert Conde and wife Debbie of Great Bend, Kan.

James Conde Jr. of Alta Vista, Kansas, and Elva McBee of Douglas, Kansas, were married Jan. 17, 1963, in Emporia, Kansas, while both were attending college.

They returned to Douglass, where they raised their family. They later moved to Wichita, Kan., where they both worked in management and administration in the aircraft industry for a number of years. Jim was also instrumental in the design and initial production of the Zipper lawn mowers.

In 2006, Jim surprised Elva with a wedding vow renewal ceremony at West Douglas Chuch of Christ in Wichita, Kan.

Following Elva’s retirement in 2010, the couple moved to Duncan to be closer to family. Even though they are newcomers in the community, they feel very much at home and enjoy visiting the Duncan Senior Center and fellowship activities at Eastside Chuch of Christ.

Jim is an avid pool player and a member of the Moose Lodge, while Elva enjoys crocheting, sewing, bowling and ceramics. They both enjoy sports, playing golf, attending estate sales and a number of other activities, including spending time with their family.

They are planning to explore Oklahoma with a number of road trips during the next few years.

In addition to their children, they have four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
