Egg hunts, talent shows on March calendar

DUNCAN —

March means spring break, warmer weather and flowers, but it also means plenty of fun events planned for the community.
Easter is right around the corner and at the end of the month, children and their parents will be hopping all around Duncan to get to all the Easter egg hunts. The Simmons Center gets the festivities started at 10 a.m. sharp for their hunt, followed by 1 p.m. at the Moose Lodge and finishing with First Baptist Church’s hunt at 3 p.m. in Fuqua Park.
For entertainment in March, there are several performances to keep residents busy. Southwest Pride Chorus has a performance tonight at 7:30 p.m. in the Simmons Center with their 50th annual show themed “Barbershop and the Music of America.”
Next up is Duncan Little Theatre’s second annual “We’ve Got Talent” competition at 7 p.m. March 9 in the Simmons Center. Duncan and its surrounding areas is full of talented people and this is a chance to see a several of them perform.
Chisholm Trail Arts Council will host their next concert with The Texas Gypsies at 7:30 p.m. March 15 at the Simmons Center. This event will be in the ballroom instead of the theater to allow for dancing.
Last, there is a CU@SC music showcase hosted by Cameron University at 7:30 p.m. March 29 at the Simmons Center. This showcase features Cameron’s choral ensemble — The Centennial Singers, Cameron’s steel drum ensemble – CU Pan Express, and student pianists.
“Revelation Road” will be shown at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Saturday at The Palace Theatre, where you can also meet star of the movie, Brian Bosworth, and get his autograph. Everything Bazaar will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 9, where you can support several local small businesses. This will be held at the Stephens County Fair & Expo Center.
There are a couple of opportunities to have fun while helping out good causes. The first is the Toy Shop Spud Luncheon Tuesday, March 5 at First United Methodist Church. The second is a St. Patrick’s Day Yappy Hour, where funds go to the Stephens County Humane Society.
Other exciting community events include the Duncan Chamber of Commerce banquet at 7 p.m. March 14 at the Simmons Center, where those who have positively impacted the city are recognized; Made in Oklahoma and Agritourism Expo from 12:30-5 p.m. March 26 at the Chisholm Trail Heritage Center; and the Duncan Automotive Swap Meet March 28-30 at the Stephens County Fair & Expo Center.
Also at the fairgrounds this month is the Stephens County Rabbit Breeders Show March 8-9 and Ultimate Calf Roping March 16-17.
