Zinn 60 Years

Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Zinn

DUNCAN —

Alvin and Nell Zinn celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a family dinner in their home, complete with cake, flowers and a memory book.

Alvin Zinn and Nell Crocker were married Feb. 22, 1953, at First Baptist Church in Elba, Ala. with Rev. Murry L. Seay officiating.

Alvin and Nell met when Alvin was stationed at Fort Rucker, Ala. They spent their honeymoon traveling back to Oklahoma, where Alvin was from and have lived in Duncan for 60 years.

Alvin worked as a parts manager for Ford Motor Company for 21 years, at Motor Supply, was part owner of Alstar for 10 years, and worked for Sooner Air and Gas for three years before retiring in 1993.

Nell worked at the OSU Extention Office for six years, Halliburton for one year, was the first deputy in the court clerk’s office for seven years, worked for the National Rural Water Association for two years and was the county commissioner secretary for 13 years before retiring in 1995.

Alvin was a charter member of the Duncan Optimist Club. Both have been active at Parkview Baptist Church as charter members. Alvin has served as a deacon since 1958, as well as music leader, Sunday school superintendent, TU director and Sunday school teacher.

Nell has belonged to WMU (now WOM) since 1953, teaches Sunday school and, until recently, due to family health issues, both sang in the choir. Both still enjoy Gospel Singings that have been a part of their lives since their dating days.

They have three children, Sharon Hobson and husband Joe of Comanche, the late Jimmy Zinn, and Kevin Zinn and wife Machelle of Duncan. The couple has six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
