The Marlow wrestling team lost 45-26 to Lawton High Tuesday night, but won six of its 11 matches on the evening.
Sophomore Ryan Brooks won his match by a technical fall, meaning he outscored his opponent by 15 points, and Landon Branum had an upset win at the 125-pound mark.
“I was excited the way we wrestled,” head coach Keith Kizarr said. “We came out with good intensity and played tough. The work we’ve been putting in seems to have paid off some.”
The Outlaws ended up having to forfeit three matches resulting in 18 points for Lawton High.
“You can’t really look at the score cause I thought we wrestled well and had to forfeit a few matches,” Kizarr said.
Mykel Moreno won his match at 171 pounds and Tanner Keck pinned his opponent at the 180 mark. Colt McCauley won his match at heavy weight to round out the night for Marlow.
“We’re getting better,” Kizarr said. “We’re going to keep working.”
Marlow will be on the practice mat for the next several days, not competing again until next week.
