NORMAN — Duncan’s Tyler Rice finished as one of the top four players in the Oklahoma Amateur State golf tournament Thursday. Rice lost 6 and 4 against third-seeded Daniel Mitchell of Oklahoma City at The Trails Golf Course in the semifinal round.
Mitchell defeated Robert Streb of Edmond, 2 and 1, to win the tournament.
Rice knocked off second-seeded Oklahoma City’s Bruno Buccolo Wednesday, 1 up. Rice moved into the quarterfinals with a 2 and 1 win over Austin Quinten of Sand Springs.
Rice went into the bracket-play portion of the tournament as the 10th seed.

Labor Day tourney begins
At one point in the afternoon on Saturday, the high temperature almost doubled some of the first-round scores posted on the board. The scores, of course, were those from the 80th Annual Elks Labor Day Duncan Golf and Country Club Tournament.
