Rainy day doesn’t stop chalk artists

DUNCAN — Though Friday morning’s rain changed the settings for Duncan Public Library’s Sidewalk Chalk contest, the event still took place.

Instead of cement walkways, the children who participated demonstrated their drawing skills on pieces of cardboard inside the back building of the library.

With the Nana Wall recently constructed, the cardboard boxes the supplies came in happened to be readily available to provide a coloring surface.

Several children of varying ages participated in the contest and were encouraged to draw scenes that went along the theme of their respective summer reading groups.
