DUNCAN —
Elizabeth Kate Matthews and Scott Alden Shafer, both of Oklahoma City, will exchange wedding vows Oct. 6, 2012, at the First United Methodist Church in Duncan, with the Rev. Joe Bynum of Oklahoma City officiating.
Bride-elect is the daughter of Jim and Pat Matthews of Duncan. Her grandparents are the late Sam J. and Dorothy Matthews of Oklahoma City, and Ruth M. Freeman and the late Verne Freeman of Wichita, Kan.
Prospective groom is the son of Larry and Cassie Shafer of Colorado Springs. His grandparents are Joyce Shafer and the late Jim Shafer of Hartselle, Ala., and Marjorie Precure and the late Kenneth Precure of Muleshoe, Texas.
Elizabeth is a 2005 graduate of Duncan High School. She received her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Oklahoma State University in 2009. Elizabeth has been a member of LRC Social Club, Duncan Reflections Show Choir, National Honor Society, First United Methodist Youth and Life Church Small Group Leader. She is employed at Chesapeake Energy as an air permitting technician.
Scott is a 2001 graduate of Colorado Springs Christian School. He received his bachelor’s degree in aerospace maintenance management from Middle Tennessee State University in 2006. Scott has been a member of Praise Band and a Life Church small group leader. He is employed as an A&P Mechanic with AAR Aircraft Services.
