‘An Evening of Elegance’ on Saturday

Wild hog hunt, backyard BBQ among items to be auctioned at a March 6 fundraiser.

Money can’t buy happiness, they say, but money can buy a great meal and the chance to take a buddy on a wild hog hunt. The hog hunt, and incidentally, taxidermy for a hog, are but two of more than 100 goods and services to be auctioned next Saturday at the 2010 Project Graduation Dinner and Auction.

“An Evening of Elegance” gets under way at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, March 6, at the Duncan Elks Country Club. Dinner is served at 7 p.m., and the bidding will get under way around 8 p.m. Tickets are now on sale. Contact Joy Billingsley to purchase tickets (470-8110 or 606-2250). Cost is $40 each, and $20 of each ticket sold qualifies as a charitable tax deduction. Group seating (up to 8 per table) is also available.

“The auction is so much fun because there’s truly something for everyone regardless of your age or interests,” Fundraising Committee chairman Dana Harwell said. This year’s auction items include a backyard barbecue for 25, OU and OSU quilts, autographed footballs and basketballs, a flat screen TV, catered dinners, season tickets to Demon football or basketball, professional photography sessions, and yes, a wild hog hunt for two, to name just a few.

In addition to the live auction, a Chinese auction and a silent auction will also be held.

All auction items are donated by businesses and individual supporters in and around the Duncan community. Proceeds will benefit Project Graduation, an all-night supervised celebration for Duncan High School graduates following graduation ceremonies.
