Christmas concert set for Thursday

DUNCAN — The Duncan High School Vocal Music Department will present its annual Christmas concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, in the DHS Auditorium.

A Dessert Revue, hosted by the Choir Parent’s Association, will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Student entertainers will perform during the revue. Dessert revue tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students, which include concert admission. Tickets to the concert only are $2 each and sold at the door.

The theme for this year’s show is “Merry Christmas.” As with previous years, “Peace, Peace” will be the traditional song to end the Christmas concert. The Vocal Music Department is under the direction of Kevin Zinn.

The DHS Vocal Music Department is known for its success in competition, including the Little Dixie Choral Contest in late October at East Central University in Ada. The group placed 1st in the competition.

    Braught was named Friday as the 2013 recipient of the Crossman Award, which is similar to a valedictorian award. The Crossman Award is the Duncan High School’s top student award. The award was presented during the awards assembly.

    The Cameron University School of Business Building will be re-named Cynthia S. Ross Hall, following approval Friday,  by the University of Oklahoma, Cameron University and Rogers State University Board of Regents. Regent Richard R. Dunning, Chairman, requested the name change in recognition of the extraordinary contributions made by Cameron President Cindy Ross over the past  11 years.
