Tax revenue up for county in 2009

Bray only town with less from previous year

OKLAHOMA CITY — Stephens County received $270,452.51 in January of 2009 compared to $244,847.49 in 2008 in the January distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission (OTC).

Duncan collected $1,228,711.02, up from $1,001,837.94 in 2008.

Marlow collected $142,253.18, which was up a bit from the $119,115.27 in 2008.

Velma had a collection total of $34,123.89, up from $28,669.19 last year, while Loco collected $1289.18, which was down from the 2008 total of $1,516.47.

Comanche had a total collection of $37,078.89, which was up from 2008’s $34,193.42.

Bray collected $1,099.99, which is a considerable drop from $2,595.51 last year.

The OTC collection for January primarily represents local tax receipts from November business. Companies that remit more than $2,500 monthly in sales tax receipts are required to file and pay electronically.

The monies reported this period represent sales from Nov. 16 to Nov. 30 and estimated sales from Dec. 1 to Dec. 15. The disbursement of $121,818,267 in sales tax collections was returned to 505 cities and towns, reflecting an increase of $4,234,933 from the $117,583,334 distributed to 504 cities and towns in January of last year.

The use tax disbursement of $8,284,722 was distributed between 346 cities and towns.

In county returns, 74 counties shared in a $24,855,675 sales tax disbursement. The use tax disbursement of $2,024,766 was distributed between 66 counties.
