DUNCAN —
Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill and Bar opened officially at 10 a.m. today, making Duncan its 45th restaurant.
General Manager John McKinney beamed as he cut the ribbon.
And their first guests of the day were members representing the Duncan Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Duncan Class XVII, and numerous city leaders, including Mayor Gene Brown who also welcomed the company to Duncan.
Several words of praise were issued by numerous individuals with Applebee’s, and also from the various community leaders, including Chamber President Chris Deal, who said working with Applebee’s team was one of the most “awesome experiences” he’s ever had. He specifically mentioned Concord Neighborhood Corporation President Maggie Stine, who has been in Duncan for several days helping get the establishment opened.
“This is a very momentous and special occasion,” Deal told the crowd. He also indicated that by Applebee’s coming to Duncan, it shows that Duncan is a progressive community.
McKinney told The Banner also that a new restaurant had opened in Pensacola, Fla., today. Concord's Dawn Rudd said it was an old building that the company chose to level and rebuild.
Applebee’s hosted a friends and family day and night Friday, for its staff to begin putting into action the training they’ve been learning. And on Saturday, invited guests kept the place busy just as if it were open.
