One dead after stabbing in Velma community

DUNCAN — One person is dead after a stabbing took place at a private residence in the Velma area around 4:30 p.m. today.

Officers are at the residence, which is near the Midway Truck Stop, but no other details were provided.

Stephens County Sheriff Wayne McKinney said the scene has been secured.

SCSO and other law enforcement agencies involved in the investigation.

“A call came into dispatch and deputies responded," McKinney said.

McKinney did not confirm if there was a suspect in custody.

“This is still under investigation. We should have more information tomorrow.”
