Boerstler - 68 years
Montie and Reba Boerstler of Duncan will celebrate their 68th wedding anniversary Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2009.
Montie and former Reba Godsey were high school sweethearts in Jenks.
He joined the Army Jan. 8, 1940 and was home on furlough in December 1941. They planned to get married around Christmas time. Plans were changed Dec. 7, 1941, when Pearl Harbor was bombed by the Japanese and Sgt. was called back to Fort Devens, Mass. The couple were married at Boerstler’s sister’s house by WA. Criswell in Muskogee.
They had only three days together before he had to leave. They are still married after 68 years and still holding hands.
The couple have two children, Harold and Beverly Boerstler of Amarillo, Texas, and Janice Wood of Longview, Texas. They have four grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren, including quintuplets.
