Kelly 40 years

DUNCAN — Frank and Gayla Sears Kelly celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary June 26, 2010. The couple was united in marriage June 26, 1970, in Comanche by the Rev. Bill Ray.

They have resided in the Stephens County area most of their lives.

Frank was a heavy equipment operator in the oil field for several years and Tasco Refinery for six years before going to work for Stephens County District 2 in 1986. He was elected Commissioner of District 2 in 1997, and served three terms before retiring in Jan. 2009.

Gayla chose to be a stay-at-home mom to their three children while helping at school, teaching Sunday school and working with the youth at church. She worked in accounting for a few years. Now, she is a homemaker.

They attend Heritage Oaks Church of the Nazarene. The couple enjoys spending time with their children and grandchildren and going to school functions and sports events.

Their children are Dewayne and Tammy Kelly of Tuttle; Kevin and Holly Kelly, and Leah and Andy Arbuckle, of Duncan. They have nine grandchildren, Austin and Meghan Kelly of Tuttle; Conner, Hunter, Kenadi and Kooper Kelly, Dylan and Aubree Kelly, and Garrett Matthews, of Duncan.

    Jerry and Betty Whitten have spent all their married life (and more) in Duncan. Betty graduated from Duncan High School in 1945, as did their four children: Steve in 1967 (University of Oklahoma in 1972), John in 1969 (Oklahoma State University in 1974), Missy in 1971 (OU in 1975) and J.D. “Butch” in 1975 (OU in 1979).

    Maxine Ryther and Wayne Wilson met in the mid-1940s while working in retail at the local F.W. Woolworth Store on Main Street in Duncan. They are now celebrating 65 years of marriage.

  • Mr. and Mrs. Rev. Bill Choate Choate 65 years

    Rev. Bill Choate and Jean Rogers of Meridian celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on May 1 by attending the First Baptist Church. The couple regularly attends Wednesday services and because their anniversary landed on that day, they didn’t break tradition.

    Anna Reese and William Russell Young of Duncan celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary Feb. 17.

    Anna Reese Bostain and William Russell Young were married Feb. 17, 1943, in Chattanooga, Tenn., at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A.C. Ross officiated by W. Ralph Wharton, Church of Christ minister.

    Alvin and Nell Zinn celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a family dinner in their home, complete with cake, flowers and a memory book.

    David and Della Patterson of Duncan will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Jan. 28, 2013.

    David Patterson and Della Roden were married Jan. 28, 1963 in Duncan.
