Crabtree — 50 years

DUNCAN — Albert Crabtree and Cecile Gray were married June 11, 1961, in Duncan. At the time, Albert was a recent graduate of the University of Oklahoma, with a focus in geology. Cecile was nearing completion in her degree in music history and piano performance at OU.

Al’s U.S. Air Force commission called him to duty, and he served until his retirement as a lieutenant colonel in 1982. His duty took the family to many foreign and domestic bases. Their son Stephen was born in 1967 at Tinker Airforce Base Hospital in Oklahoma City. Their son Charles was born in 1967, in an English hospital in Oxford.

Since his retirement from the Air Force, the couple has made their home in Duncan, where Al is self-employed as a mineral rights manager.

Both sons graduated from Duncan High School. Stephen and his wife, Stacy, reside in Atlanta, Ga., where Stephen is an emergency room physician and Stacy is an R.N. Charles and his wife, Judy, live in New Orleans, La. Charles is a mathematics tutor, and Judy is a genetics researcher with Louisiana State University Medical School. All four are graduates of the University of Oklahoma.

While Judy was working on her PhD in biochemistry at OU, Cecile commuted to Norman to finish her PhD in English literature, art history and music history. She teaches at Cameron University.

Al and Cecile have four grandchildren: Evan, who will begin his freshman year at OU this fall, Braden, Ann and Zachary.

The Crabtree children will host a reception in honor of their parents’ 50th wedding anniversary from 1 to 3 p.m. July 2, in the Wildhorse Room of the Simmons Center. All friends of the couple can attend. They request no gifts.
