Ledford

Jim and Joetta Ledford celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on July 19, 2009.

Their children were hosts for a barbecue and celebration on July 17 on the property of Junior Ledford, Jim’s brother. Entertainment was provided by the Rowdy South band, of which their son is a member. A special song, “Look At Us,” was performed by the couple’s three children.

Ledford was raised in the Corum area. He is the son of Jewell Ledford and the late Ernest Ledford. Joetta was raised in California before moving to Oklahoma in 1957. She is the daughter of the late J.C. and Wanda Montgomery.

The couple met in Corum. Ledford joined the Navy and when he came home on leave, they were married on July 19, 1959, in Wichita Falls, Texas. The bride was only 15.

They moved to Kingsville, Texas, where they stayed until he went overseas. During this time, Joetta went to beauty school and received her license to become a hairdresser, which she chose to make her career. She is now semi-retired, styling hair only a couple of days a week at the Meridian Nursing Home, which she says she finds very rewarding.

Ledford farmed most of his life and continues to do so today. They have lived in the Corum/Comanche area for many years.

Their children are Rhonda Ralls and Dayne Ledford, both of Corum, and Tracie Craven and husband, Chris, of Marlow. They have six grandchildren: Jarrod and Chad Ralls, Courtni Craven, Kayla, Melissa and Breanna Ledford; and a great-granddaughter, Allie Kait Ledford.

The Ledfords say they feel blessed to have had a very large and special family along with their church family and many good friends throughout the years. They’ve had some hard times, but all in all, have had a great 50 years.
